John F. Kennedy Elementary School
On May 18th, 2023, our founder and president, Abigail Monasebian, was invited as a guest speaker to John F. Kennedy Elementary school to introduce Books Defy Borders to the students, the principal, the assistant principal, and a variety of teachers. She gave a 30-minute long presentation to her audience, and at the end of the presentation, the children gave her 5 boxes of books (over 150 books) for Books Defy Borders. John L. Miller Great Neck North High School (All Booked Up Club)
On May 31st, 2023, Monasebian was invited as a guest speaker to John L. Miller Great Neck North High School’s All Booked Up club to formally introduce Books Defy Borders to the club members and advisor. All Booked Up is an after-school club that collects books from their school’s students and staff to encourage literacy among children who may otherwise lack access to it. After the club hosted a book drive for Books Defy Borders, she joined them to give a presentation, followed by her collection of 430 books from the club’s book drive.
